101st Annual Show & Sale - Ludlow 2026
Judge Nigel Williams with his male champion (Lot 75 - right) from I.T. Davies & Son, and his reserve male champion (Lot 38 - Left) from Del Knowles.
The 101st Annual Show & Sale of Clun Forest sheep at Ludlow took place on Friday 11th September 2026 and despite uncertainty and restrictions caused by the on going Bluetongue situation, as ever, good quality stock was much in demand.
In the pre-sale show, under the expert eye of Nigel Williams of the Hopton Flock, it was a 2024 born aged ram ‘Honddu Hercules' (lot 75) from the Honddu Flock of I.T.Davies & Son which took the male championship. Hercules was sired by Sarnesfield Evoke and out of a Guifron sired dam and went on to sell to the judge for 1000gns.
Reserve male was a shearling ram ‘Wrotham James’ (lot 38) from the Wrotham flock of society chairman, Del Knowles, of Harewood, Leeds. ‘James' was also sired by Sarnesfield Evoke, but out of a homebred dam.
In the ram lamb class it was ‘Honddu Kickstart’ (lot 65) again from I.T. Davies and Son which took the 1st prize. ‘Kickstart' was sired by Trewyrlod Glen out of a Cemey sired dam and went on to sell for 350gns to R Hooper.
Judging the female entries was Paul Murray of the Inside Hype flock based near Penrith, in Cumbria who found both his champion and reserve champion female from the entries forward from the Honddu Flock of I.T.Davies & Son. The female champion was a shearling ewe (lot 2) which was sired by Pen-Y-Wern Governor, and out of a Sarnesfield sired dam and went on to sell for 580gns to Emily John of the Rowley Farm flock. The reserve female champion was the 1st prize ewe lamb (lot 6) which was sired by Trewyrlod Glen, and out of a Guifron sired dam and went on to sell for 480gns to a new buyer, J Stevens.
