2021 Sale Report

96th Clun Forest Sheep Society Show & Sale - Ludlow 2021

The Annual Clun forest Sheep Breeders Society Sale took place in Ludlow Market last Friday with buyers attending from as far a field as Aberdeenshire. The thousand pound barrier was breached twice in the male section with top price of 1,300 gns being paid by Richard Price, Trewyrlod to Evan Jones for his homebred shearling ram WALTON DONALD. The other thousand pound animal was another shearling ram, PEN-Y-WERN DAVID, who made 1,000 gns for A.E.Williams & Son and found a new home with L.E.Lloyd & Sons, Sarnesfield. The Champion of the day, PEN-Y-WERN DAZ, also came from A.E.Williams & Son, who are celebrating their 75th Anniversary as Clun breeders and was sold for 900 gns to Burwarton Estates. The top price for a ram lamb, HONDDU ENDEAVOUR, came from I.T.Davies & Son and was also snapped up by L.E.Lloyd & Sons. The highest priced Aged Ram, KIBEE CAPTAIN came from Kira Newey and sold for 160 gns to W.H.Morse, Pembrokshire.

In the Female Section the breed record equaling price £300 was made twice but prices in general were slightly disappointing with some cracking females selling for very reasonable prices. The first £300 price was made by Mike Eckley, Brecon with COURT-LLACCA DEMI and set a new record for a shearling ewe which went to David Beech, Derbyshire. Mr Beech then went on to buy a pair of strong ewe lambs for the same price from new breeders R. & P.Whitticase, Churchstoke.
